Tasting Notes:

Popularity of Cigales rosado is gaining steam thanks to the aperitif quality of their wines. They are fresh with intense red fruit (think strawberry and raspberry) aromas, crisp acidity and superb mouthfeel. The bright watermelon fruit pulp color will leave you with summer on the mind. The Conde does not disappoint. Round fruit pair beautifully with fish, seafood, or any of our mixed cheeses or marcona almonds.

Title 1 About the Winery
Content 1

The beginning of the professional involvement of the Frutos Villar family in the wine market is to be traced back to the dawning of this century, when on a purely local basis we bought up and sold wine from the region of Toro.
Well before the officially demarcated wine regions of Spain, the so-called “Denominaciones de Origen” or “DOs”, came into being, we set up our first winery at Toro in 1920. True to our ideal of renewal and progress, in 1960 we established our second winery in Cigales.
Upon the consolidation of the demarcated regions, in 1988 the Frutos Villar family purchased Bodegas Santa Eulalia, a winery belonging to the Ribera del Duero region.
At Bodegas Frutos Villar, whilst continuing to make great wines at those of our own vineyards not belonging to any “Denominación de Origen”, and in an endeavour to encompass all the demarcated regions of Castilla, in 1990 we began to market wines from the Rueda “DO”.
Toro wines have a long tradition. Its origins predate even the settlement of the Romans in the area. Has always been high quality wines, very appreciated.
In the Middle Ages for its extraordinary quality, it was granted royal privileges that allowed marketing in cities where the sale other wines was prohibited. In that tradition in winemaking have been sipping from generation to generation and today are made true wonders in the area.
Frutos Villar was the first winery to settle and market wines from Toro, 1920.

Title 2 Winemaking
Content 2

This Wine is made by 12 hours maceration with a 100% de-stemmed grape. Afterwards it undergoes a centrifuge before fermentation begins. The “pie de cuba” (yeast starter) is added to a clean must and fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C. Then, wine is finned and stabilized so tartrates precipitate out before wine is bottled.
