Title 1 | About the Winery |
Content 1 | Lar de Paula is located in Elvillar de Álava in Rioja Alavesa. At 600 m (1,969 ft), Elvillar butts up against the Sierra de Cantabria Mountains that protect the Alavesa from what would otherwise be frigid winters and an extreme Atlantic influence. His wines benefit from the rain wall that the mountains provide. The Ebro River Valley helps regulate the warm, continental climate and the limestone-rich soils contribute to the wine's high acidity. Still, these are tempranillos that are in the more cool-climate style than most of their contemporaries like Rioja Baja sitting on the hot basin floor. |
Title 2 | Winemaking |
Content 2 | Malolactic fermentation happens in Ganímedes tank for eight days then wine is racked to new European oak barrels where it remains for 14 months. Rackings every four months. Wine is kept for 12 months minimum in bottle before release. |
